PRACTICE TEAM

We aim to offer the best available family medical care from a modern, purpose-built surgery and a large branch surgery. We have a comprehensive range of medical facilities designed to give you the individual attention you need. The practice team consists of the following.

PRACTICE NURSES (Tel: 01869 245665)

Practice nurses provide general nursing services and health promotion advice by appointment between 8.30am and 6.00pm. In addition, each nurse has special areas of expertise and responsibility: family planning (including emergency contraception), smoking cessation and allergies, as well as the management of chronic disease such as asthma, diabetes, COPD and coronary heart disease. Employed by the practice.

PHLEBOTOMIST (TEL: 01869 245665)

A phlebotomist provides blood sampling and urinalysis clinics from 8.00am, and assists with medical examinations and health promotion activity. Employed by the practice.

DISTRICT NURSE (TEL: 01869 321193)

A team of district nurses provide a specialist nursing service to individuals who are housebound. They assess the nursing needs of patients, advise about care and convalescence after discharge from hospital, and give advice and support to carers. Referrals can be made via the surgery or direct on Bicester 321193. Employed by the PCT.

HEALTH VISITORS (Tel: 01869 247450)

The health visitors are based at the Ambrosden Surgery and specialise in child, family and community health, including health promotion and health education. They work with the rest of the primary health care team to help you to help yourself lead as healthy a lifestyle as possible and reduce the risk of illness or premature death from preventable causes. Employed by the PCT.

MIDWIVES (TEL: 01869 243763)

Midwives are attached to the practice and they co-ordinate all antenatal and postnatal care. They also provide aquanatal and parentcraft classes and you will be given details of these when first booked for antenatal care. Employed by the PCT.

COUNSELLOR

A counsellor is attached to the practice offering a valuable and confidential service.

Our dedicated support staff provide information, help with your queries and resolve problems relating to access to our appointment system and in-house clinics, prescriptions and medication, referrals to the hospital services and local consultant-based clinics, and non NHS medical examination/reports.

RECEPTION STAFF

These front-line staff work in a busy environment and frequently have to deal with difficult and distressing situations. They are trained to help you and, in order to do so quickly and appropriately, they may have to ask for information about your condition or other personal details.

All staff are bound by the same rules of patient confidentiality as the doctors and nurses.
